DUBOIS – The newly seated DuBois City Council of the unified city has moved quickly in their first meeting, approving a series of resolutions to formally complete the consolidation of the former city and Sandy Township.

Council ratified preliminary rules, appointed interim city management, and authorized the transferring of assets, debts, and municipal authorities.

However, the city’s proposed budget did not pass and will be reopened for further discussion, making it the central issue of the new administration.

“I’m going to need to hear from the board on what their direction is,“ explained Interim Manager Lisa Hagberg. “How many mills they are considering removing. Therefore, we’ll have to make adjustments based on that.”

Ultimately with little time to rework the budget, lawmakers are looking to cut down on the millage increase.

Mollica and Sullivan voted against reopening the budget.
