BROCKWAY – A report by the DEP has shown that asbestos levels in the water have tripled over the last year in Brockway.

This stems from the old asbestos cement pipes installed in the 1950s degrading, ultimately leaking into the water supply.

The legal limit for asbestos is seven million fibers per liter with Brockway testing at an average of 33 million fibers per liter.

While there is no immediate risk, long term-exposure could lead to health risks.
