Driving Safe for the Holidays

CLEARFIELD – As more drivers take to the roadways for the holidays, you are reminded to buckle up, stay sober, and make safe choices while driving.

All of this is a part of Operation Safe Holiday, where officials with PennDOT and the Highway Safety Network highlight enforcement efforts focused on impaired driving and seat belt use.

“We’re reminding folks that if they are going to be out celebrating the holidays, to celebrate responsibly,“ explained Highway Safety Network’s Community Traffic Safety Project Coordinator Josh Woods. “Designate a sober driver, take advantage of things like public transportation or a ride sharing service, like Uber or Lyft, never get behind the wheel impaired.”

On Thursday, officials visited Commonwealth University in Clearfield with “drunk goggles”, simulators, and other experiences showing the dangers of distracted and impaired driving.
