UNDATED – The newly elected pope, Pope Leo XIV, is the first ever American chosen for the title, and he has some ties to the Keystone State.

Formerly known as Robert Francis Prevost, the Chicago native graduated from Villanova University in Pennsylvania with a mathematics degree in 1977.

The election took less than 24 hours at the Vatican
