UNDATED – A count in both Clearfield and Jefferson Counties have shown homelessness trends in the past year.

This count shows the preliminary findings of January’s point in time count, an annual tally of the homeless population done by HUD (Housing in Urban Development) and local groups.

This year, the count shows that in Clearfield County 14 individuals are without shelter, doubling last year’s numbers. The report also showed a majority of those individuals are in the DuBois area.

In Jefferson County, no homeless individuals were found.

This trend of increased homelessness is growing nationally, and it is believed that even more individuals are without shelter but more difficult to find.
