Sandy Township Meeting Changes

SANDY TOWNSHIP – Changes are underway for how Sandy Township public meetings are held.

Recently, officials have passed a measure to hold their public meetings once a month, on the third Wednesday, just after the Joint Consolidation meeting.

We hear from Ben Kafferlin, the manager for both DuBois and Sandy Township on the reasoning behind the change.

“We found ourselves in the place of trying to react,” explained Kafferlin. “We tell one board something, and then try to catch the other board, and then bring something to a consolidation meeting. So we said ‘hang on, time out’, what if we just had the meetings together. Then they could immediately leave that meeting and ratify anything that they couldn’t cover in the consolidation meeting.”

The township has also updated their agendas, including links for online downloads. All changes are expected to go into effect next month.
