UNDATED – if you plan on enjoying the nice weather we have outdoors, take some caution when planning to have open burns.
With outdoor conditions being dry, low humidity, and strong winds, the risk for an outdoor fire to spread and get out of control has drastically increased.
We spoke to Jefferson County 911 Coordinator Chris Clark, who says you should be cautious, especially this time of year.
“Controlled fires can get away fairly quickly,“ explained Clark. “There’s days of very dryness, low humidity, and some wind, but some breeze. So things dry out very quickly and a wind can pick up very quickly as well, spreading fire very rapidly.”
While there is no official burn ban in the area, you are urged to stay safe and consider waiting until conditions improve before having an outdoor burn.
