Consolidation Woes

DUBOIS – The Consolidation of the City of DuBois and Sandy Township is just over a year away, with much animosity in the community over the entire process. One is trying to fight the negativity.

On Wednesday night’s consolidation joint board meeting, Barry Abbott spoke out against the negativity around consolidation.

As a fix for the negativity, he suggested the city and township should celebrate the good.

“We need to move forward in a positive manner,“ explained Abbott. “I gave the council maybe eight, maybe nine, recommendations of positive things that we can bring to the table. And hopefully the community members will reach out to Shawn (Arbaugh) to say hey I got an idea and we can run with that as well.”

Abbott suggested fall festivals, block parties, and to begin working on a celebration when consolidation is complete.

He also suggested free parking within the City, promoting baseball more, and installing solar panels over the parking lots within the City.
