PUNXSUTAWNEY — A man currently jailed in Ohio is facing several charges in Jefferson County for the alleged theft of more than $10,000-worth of items from a Punxsutawney home.
State Police have charged 33-year-old Ryan Schoening with burglary, trespassing, theft, and criminal mischief. The break-in reportedly happened at a Filtering Plant Road residence more than five years ago.
Investigators say that DNA analysis and fingerprints at the scene link Schoening to the crimes.
Police arrested Schoening on federal charges in 2021, and he is currently an inmate of Northeast Ohio Correctional Center in Youngstown.
A preliminary hearing for Schoening’s charges in Jefferson County has not yet been scheduled.
