SANDY TWP. – As we spotlight the newly-elected municipal officials in DuBois and Sandy Township, today we tell you more about the newest Sandy Township Supervisor, Pastor Dick Whitaker..

With faith and a willingness to help at the forefront, Pastor Dick Whitaker begins his time as the newly-elected Sandy Township Supervisor.

With no desire to serve in politics, Whitaker finds himself as Sandy Township Supervisor saying “I didn’t run for me, but for my children and grandchildren.”

Seeing the ways this will affect the community, he aspires to bring in high-quality businesses in order for “our kids to have a future.”

Whitaker is pro-consolidation and recognizes the big picture concerns within the community.

During his term, he hopes to see more industry, resources brought into the area, and increased construction of homes. To keep the community involved in these processes, Whitaker exclaims
the vitality of reinstatement of the 9-person consolidation committee.

He will complete a six-year term, but hopes to be out in two years with goals of consolidation being completed. “If I’m still there after two years, I’ve failed,” says Whitaker.

Whitaker was raised in Oklahoma, PA before moving to Treasure Lake in the mid 2000’s. Currently, he resides in Treasure Lake, where he has served as the pastor of Treasure Lake
Church for 16 years.
