DUBOIS – A program to teach the public about scams and fraudulent activity will be held later in the month.
The event, dubbed $CAM JAM!, will have you hearing from and speaking to representatives from multiple law enforcement offices and banking services.
Recently, scammers have been targeting the elderly, claiming to either be a loved one, or that a loved one is in prison and they will not get out unless a payment is made.
The $CAM JAM! Is coming to DuBois because of the efforts of State Representative Mike Armanini, who believes something has to be done to raise awareness about the scamming blight.
“They’re playing a bingo type game, showing people different types of scams, what to look out for, and how to avoid them, how to report them, and how not to get involved with them,“ explained Representative Armanini. “It’s done in a very easy way for people to understand.”
The free event will be located at the Parkside Community Center in DuBois on Tuesday September 17th from 10am to noon. You can reserve your spot now by calling (814) 375-4688.
