SANDY TOWNSHIP – A controlled burn will take place in Sandy Township this Sunday.
A home, located on Route 255, will be set ablaze to help in the training process of local firefighters.
According to Sandy Township’s Fire Chief, Jason Runyon, Firefighters from across the region will be able to train in different fire incidents
He also urges you to understand that trained professionals will be on scene and not to worry if you see smoke in the sky.
“We have instructors that are there, other senior firefighters that will be there to help with this class,“ explained Chief Runyon. “We do have a temporary road closure on 255 on Sunday when we’re burning the house completely down. There’s lots of people there that know what’s going on. Don’t call 911 and flood the 911 center because the fire department’s there and knows what’s going on.”
The Fire Chief also assured us that the home is completely safe and this controlled burn will not negatively impact the environment.
