ALTOONA – A man accused of shooting and killing United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City was arrested in Altoona Monday, here is everything we know.
Just after 9am Monday morning, after receiving an anonymous tip, police made contact with 26 year-old Luigi Mangione at an Altoona McDonalds.
Mangione then allegedly gave police a fake New Jersey ID, and when officers asked if he had been to New York City recently, Mangione became quiet and started shaking.
After finding out about the fake ID Mangione was taken into custody where police allegedly found a 3D printed 9mm “Ghost Gun” and 3D printed silencer, in addition to a handwritten note that investigators say may lead to a possible motive.
Luigi Mangione was born in Towson, Maryland and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia with a degree in computer science. He was last known to be a resident of Honolulu, with ties to San Francisco.
At this time, it is unknown why he was in Altoona, we will update you as more information becomes available.
