William R. “Ray” Shofestall, age 88 of Falls Creek, PA died Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Sycamore Estate Personal Care Home in Duquesne, PA.
Born on November 5, 1935 in Falls Creek, PA, he was the son of the late William C. and Gladys M. (Yount) Shofestall.
On October 24, 1956 he married Susan N. (Shontz) Shofestall. She preceded him in death on February 9, 2020.
Ray was a retired optician who had worked for various doctors in the DuBois area.
He was a gospel pianist for various churches in the DuBois area over the years. His most recent church was Falls Creek United Methodist.
Ray went to Arby’s in Falls Creek daily, and made friends with many of the staff. They said that he was the highlight of their day.
Ray is survived by one son (Rod Shofestall and his wife Laura of Falls Creek, PA), one granddaughter (Shanna Lingle and her partner Brianne Danko of West Mifflin, PA), six grandsons and numerous great grandchildren.
Along with his wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter (Diann “Dee Dee” Ross), two brothers (Claire and James Shofestall), and one sister (Gladys “Bonnie” Shofestall).
There will be no public visitation.
A private graveside service will be held.
Burial will be in Beechwoods Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
