William J. “Bill” McCullough, 68, of Reynoldsville, died Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at his home.
He was born September 1, 1957, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Jane Theresa (Jones) and William George McCullough.
On July 15, 1986, he married Suzanne J. (Hudson) McCullough, who survives.
Bill was a graduate of the Punxsutawney High School Class of 1975 and earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Penn State in 1979.
Bill worked for thirty-six years as a rural letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. He served as both president and secretary/treasurer for the Jefferson/Clarion Rural Letter Carriers Association. He was a steward and was involved in the QWLDJS work team. He attended the Steffy Chapel and enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing solitaire, and attending the state and national rural letter carrier association events. Meeting and talking to people was a pastime where he would often find a family connection through his work as an amateur genealogist. Bill was a master of baking cheesecakes and Belgium waffles. He helped with many canned food drives and was the one who collected the Letters to Santa during the Home for the Holidays parade.
Bill was proud of his three children and loved his grandson greatly. He would read the Christmas story from the bible to his kids every year before they were allowed to open their Christmas presents.
In addition to his wife Suzanne, he is survived by three children, son William G. A. McCullough and wife Monica of Las Vegas, NV, son John S. McCullough and wife Angela of Reynoldsville, and daughter Mary L. J. Burkett and husband Skylar of Reynoldsville; a grandson Finn McCullough; two sisters, Brenda Benyon and husband Robert of Punxsutawney and Ruth Ann Kuntz and husband Nicholas of DuBois; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Jane McCullough, nephew Nicholas Charles Kuntz, Jr., niece Holly Mae Hudson, and his faithful canine companion Magic.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, May 8, 2026, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Steffy Chapel with Pastor Robyn Smith officiating.
Interment will be in Pleasant Hill EUB Cemetery, Punxsutawney.
