1930-2026
Walter Leo Pinchock, age 95, of 1155 James Street, Brockway passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was born on June 20, 1930, in Brockway, PA. He was the son of the late Albert and Anna Baka Pinchock. He was married to Anna (Ann) Carlini on April 11,1953 at St. Tobias Church in Brockway. They shared 73 wonderful years together.
Walter’s greatest joys of life were his family and friends, sitting on the front porch waiting for his grandchildren to arrive, the Brockway Football Field, and his faith which showed in his daily rosaries, frequent visits to church, and devotion to his religion. His first job at 12 years old was at the Rocky Grill restaurant in Brockway. At a young age, he also found a job laboring at Alfred’s Dairy down the street from his family home. In 1947, he went to work at Brockway Glass as a forklift operator where he was later given the honor of cutting the ribbon at the opening ceremony and delivering the very first pallet of bottles inside the newest wear shed. After 45 years of service, Walter retired.
After retirement, he delivered Meals on Wheels, mapped out Saint Tobias Cemetery with Msgr. Louis Heberlein, and assisted with maintenance at the Brockway Baseball Fields. Walter then was asked by Frank Varischetti to maintain the Brockway Football Field when it was built, which became his passion until he retired after 25+ years. At the field, he was always the first to arrive and the last to leave. A bench, at the field, was later dedicated in his name with the words “For the Kids!” Walter’s devotion to the community continued through maintaining the swimming pool, the development of Kid’s Kingdom, and the annual Fourth of July programs in the park. In 1997, he was named the Sportsman of the Year for Brockway and in 2016, he was named the Man of the Year. Walter was a member of the St. Tobias Church, Brockway Sportsman Club, and the SOI Club.
In Walter’s words... see you later “BROTHER.”
In addition to his wife “Baba”, Walter is also survived by a daughter: Connie (Kurt) Becker of Brockway; a grandson Aaron (Melissa) Becker of Mount Joy, PA; 2 great grandchildren: Lucas and Owen Becker; a great grand-dog Taz, and a sister: Pauline (Dominic) Martino. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by 4 brothers: Edward (Helen), John, Ben (Rita), and Paul (Pat) Pinchock; 2 sisters: Marie Catharine Pinchock and Dorothy (Jack) Miksich.
