Theodore “Ted” Courson age 89 of Sabula Lake Road DuBois, PA; died on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at his residence. Born on March 12, 1937 in Beechwoods, Jefferson County; he was the son of the late William and Blanche Groves Courson. Ted was married to Sahlee J. Bowser and she preceded him in death on May 17, 2012. Ted had been employed at several drilling companies as a Derrick Man, and retired from Fairman Drilling after 48 years in the industry. Ted enjoyed the simple things in life and his greatest enjoyment came from just tinkering around his home hooting and a hollering. He is survived by sons Michael Courson of Penfield, PA; David (Kate) Courson, Ronald Courson and William Courson all of Sabula and sisters Rose Kearney and Helen Hutchins both of DuBois. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandsons. In addition to his parents and his wife he is also preceded in death by a sister Margaret Shaffer and a brother Kenny Courson. Visitation will be on Friday, April 3 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 4 at 11:00 AM also at the funeral home, with Pastor Mark Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in the Wildwood Cemetery.
