She attended the Rathmel school which at that time was a two room school housing eight grades. When the eight grades were completed she moved on to the Reynoldsville High School from which she graduated with the class of 1943. Rose then enrolled in the student nursing school at South Side Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. It was at this location that she met her future husband who was a hospital patient there and on September 4, 1947, in the Chapel of John Wesley Methodist Church in South Hills, Pittsburgh, they became husband and wife, a union which lasted for 71 years until his death.

While living there she worked as a secretary in the office of Goss Brothers Welding Supply in Falls Creek, PA. from where she retired after 31 years of employment. At this point her lifestyle changed when she and John became “winter snowbirds” and followed the sun south to the warm weather and sunny beaches of Bonita Springs, Florida for 33 years.Rose was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Reynoldsville and the IFF Sunday School Class there which she taught for some time. For the past several years she and John had been residents of the new Independent Living
