Robert Bjorn Thunberg, age 75 of DuBois, PA passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, May 2, 2026.
Born on June 6, 1950 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Melvin and Florence (Wolfe) Thunberg.
Bob was a 1968 graduate of the DuBois Area High School. He obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in History and Social Studies from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
On August 17, 1975 he married his wife of 50 years, Denise (Kier) Thunberg. She survives.
Bob had worked at the Pennsylvania Wine and Spirits store in DuBois, and previous to that had worked for over 20 years for the City of DuBois as the Police and Fire Dispatcher.
He enjoyed backpacking and hiking, covering many sections of the Appalachian Trail. Bob was a licensed ham radio operator N3DIR, and was a member of Quad County Amateur Radio Club. He loved his golden retrievers, and along with his wife, raised ten of them. Bob enjoyed Rock ‘n Roll music and was an avid fan of Pink Floyd and YES.
Bob is also survived by one niece, and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by two sisters (Karla and Paula).
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026 from 12PM – 2PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM from the funeral home with Pastor Brennan Bell officiating.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
