Raymond N. VandervortBrockway, PA

Raymond N. Vandervort, 75, Brockway, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Penn Highlands DuBois.

Born May 27, 1947, in DuBois, he was the son of the late Everett and Jessie (Kriner) Vandervort.

On December 31, 2010, he married Jean (Shaffer) Vandervort at the DuBois Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene. She survives.

Raymond graduated from the DuBois Area High School. He was a retired painter from various body shops in the DuBois area. Raymond enjoyed going to dirt track races and car shows, watching NASCAR, taking Saturday evening rides to look for wildlife, and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He was the past president for Wheels of Yesteryear and enjoyed playing Santa for many years. Raymond was Methodist by faith. He was often heard saying “see you later”.

In addition to his wife, Raymond is survived by his five children, Gary (Melinda) Patton, Minnesota, Lori (Bryan) Buterbaugh, Punxsutawney, Gregory Patton, DuBois, Lisa Ann (Dave Rindosh) Patton, Brockway, and Linda (Kurt) Walborn, Falls Creek; thirteen grandchildren, Kourtney, Brandon, Alex, Miranda, Chad, Erica, Kyler, Gabe, Kristi, Megan, Andrew, Breanna, and Tanner; fourteen great-grandchildren and one due in July; a brother, Richard (Evelyn) Vandervort, Falls Creek; a special family friend, Tracy, and a very special cat, Patches.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Sgt. Colton Patton, sister, Phyllis Swedd, step-father, Ira Askey, and a step-brother, Ken Askey.

Friends and family will be received Monday, February 27, 2023 from 2-4 p.m. from the Adamson Funeral Chapel and Crematorium. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. from the funeral chapel with Pastor David Nagele officiating. The family requests that visitors wear masks and practice social distancing.
