Raymond L. Deasey
1926-2026

Raymond L. Deasey, age 100, formerly of Rockton, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on August 8, 2026.

Born on June 24, 1926, to the late Wallace and Bernice (Frye) Deasey.

Ray graduated from DuBois Area High School class of “1945”.

On October 9, 1949, Ray married Ethel M. “Effie” Deasey in DuBois. She preceded Ray in passing on May 9, 2018.

Ray was a proud Army Veteran, he served as an Armament specialist for the B-17 Bombers during W.W. II, after the war he entered the Military Police.

Ray retired from the B & O Railroad where he was chief dispatcher.

He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee, played on the church softball team and bowling league, was also a member of the Garfield Masonic Lodge #559.

In their younger years Effie and Ray enjoyed dancing, they were members of the Gateway Squares, Sam’s Supper Club and Supko Round Dance Group.

Ray enjoyed woodworking, gardening, making stained glass and loved to travel.

Ray is survived by his daughter, Llyn “Sue” (Tom) Prontock, grandchildren; Wayne (Lisa) Prontock, Jason (Penny) Prontock, Marc Eric (Annette) Deasey, Jillian (Michael) Pituch, great-grandchildren; Garett and Evan Prontock, Grace Prontock and Dominic Deasey and a sister Joy Braid of Maryland, along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Ray was preceded by a son Marc R. Deasey, sisters; Ann Rohrer, Jean Valentine and Vivian Miller, brothers; Walter, Donald and Jack Deasey.

Family and friends will be received at the Adamson Funeral Chapel & Crematorium on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00. The service will take place on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. from the funeral chapel with Jim Lydick officiating. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery.
