Paul E. Smochek, 73, of Punxsutawney, died Sunday May 3, 2026, at his home.
He was born January 2, 1953, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Anna C. (Gresock) and Raymond A. Smochek.
On December 30, 1972, he married Beth Ann (Pennington) Smochek. They were married for fifty-three years.
Paul was a member of the Church of the Resurrection Glen Campbell site where he served as a eucharistic minister and a choir member.
He was a 1971 graduate of the Punxsutawney High School. He enjoyed playing guitar, board games, riding his Kubota tractor, hunting, telling jokes, and playing in many bands throughout the years but most of all his greatest enjoyment was being a grandfather.
He worked as a welder and worked at FEMCO for many years before retiring from ACME Machine.
In addition to his wife Beth, Paul is survived by two sons, PJ Smochek and wife Erin of Erie, and Matt Smochek and girlfriend Jayme Organ of Indiana; four grandchildren, Casaday and Delaney Smochek, Marley Smochek, and Jemma Farcus; three brothers, Raymond T. Smochek and girlfriend Rita of Slippery Rock, Stanley J. Smochek and wife Julie of Punxsutawney, and Richard M. Smochek and wife Sharon of Columbia, TN; three sisters, Mary Ann Bell and husband Greg of Mahaffey, Donna Marie Little and husband Jeffrey of Mahaffey, and Susan Kathleen Bloxdorf and husband Brett of Mahaffey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m., on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the Church of the Resurrection Glen Campbell site with Rev. Craig Alexander officiating.
Interment will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 9 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery, Punxsutawney.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in memory of Mr. Smochek, to the Punxsy Women’s Clinic, 1464 North Main Street, Punxsutawney, PA 15767.
