1934-2025
Patricia L. Deter, age 91, of Highland Avenue, Sykesville, PA, died December 10, 2025 at Penn Highlands-DuBois after a short illness. A daughter of the late Violet E. (Angeletti) Rockoski, she was born on October 4, 1934 in Kramer, PA. On May 17, 1958 she married William E. Deter, who survives at home.
Along with her husband, Patty is survived by four children, Robert W. (Vicky) Deter of Brookville, William R. (Karen) Deter of DuBois, James M. Deter of DuBois and Darlene A. (Barry) Swan of Sykesville; six grandchildren, Samantha (Zach) Bussard, Anthony Deter, James (Celeste) Reitz, Michael (Andrea) Reitz, Kevin Swan and Bryan (Emily) Swan; three great-grandchildren, Regan Reitz, Julia Swan and Andrew Swan; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her mother, Patty was predeceased by a sister, Cynthia Rosman.
A lifelong resident of the Sykesville Area, Patty was a member of the Holy Spirit Parish (Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church of Sykesville). She spent most of her time caring for family, cooking, baking, canning, and gardening.
Public visitation will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025 from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. at the ABVM Church of Sykesville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held, 10:00 a.m., Friday, at the ABVM Church with Father John Malthaner.
Interment will take place in the Assumption Cemetery of Sykesville.
The family suggests memorials to the Sykesville Ambulance Service or the Foundation Fighting Blindness and will be accepting online condolences at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home website (www.nedzafamilyfuneralhomes.com).
