Norman L. Guthrie, 75, of Sabula, Dubois, PA crossed over the gates to heaven on Wednesday January 22nd, 2025, at Penn Highlands, Dubois, PA. He fought a valiant battle with many health issues before being received into the hands of our Lord.
Norman was born in DuBois, PA on July 22n ,1949. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Guthrie, and Loretta Bundy Guthrie Granger.
Norm was a 1967 graduate of East High School in Erie, PA and a 1971 graduate of Anderson University in Anderson, IN, with a degree in psychology. He performed several roles in life working as a social worker, a counsellor for delinquent girls, and working with developmentally disabled adults. He ended his career working as a real estate agent.
In June 1972 he married his wife Kathleen Daly Guthrie who resides in DuBois. They shared 52 years together. Norman is survived by his son Sean Guthrie of Collierville, TN and two grandchildren, Mollie and Olivia Guthrie. He also leaves behind a sister, Susan Butler, of Springfield, OH along with several beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Norm loved walks in the woods, deer hunting on his family’s ancestral farm, and moose hunting in Canada. He also enjoyed woodworking and making beautiful stained-glass projects.
Norm loved the annual 4th of July family reunions. Over the years Norm and his friend Jack received pyrotechnic training on how to safely ignite a spectacular display of fireworks on the farm. He affectionately became known as “Norm, The Big Bang”.
Visitation will be held at Treasure Lake Church, DuBois, PA on Tuesday January 28th, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM with Pastor David Ginn, officiating. Burial will be in the Bundy Cemetery, Sabula PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org or to Geisinger Health Foundation. Geisinger Hospital being the organization providing his lifegiving kidney transplant.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Adamson Funeral Chapel and Crematorium.
