Norma “Jeanie” Jean McKee, 82, of Big Run, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Christ the King Manor in DuBois.
She was born on June 6, 1943, in New Kensington, the youngest child of Dalton Rueben Buffington and Mary Elizabeth (Burkett) Buffington.
On September 16, 1961, she married Wayne “Pete” Leon Mckee. He preceded her in death on June 1, 2019.
Jeanie previously worked at Big Run Shoe Factory, Sportswear and Ideal Products and Goodwill.
She attended the First Christian Church of Big Run.
She was a member of the Big Run Beta Sorority.
Jeannie was a woman whose life was filled with simple joys and a heart full of love. Her family meant everything to her, and she showed her love through quiet act of kindness and support. When she wasn’t spending time with them, she found happiness in quilting, knitting, playing Bingo and pogo games on her computer, she also enjoyed cooking for her brother Bob. She dearly loved and adored her fur babies, Wendy and Willy Boy, who were always close by and brought her endless comfort and laughter. Above all, she was the least selfish person you could ever meet, she was the kind of soul who would truly give you her last dollar if you needed it.
She is survived by two children, Wayne (Robin) McKee of Big Run and Mary (John) Shaffer of DuBois, with whom she made her home with over the past few years; seven grandchildren, Patrick (Kelsey) Mckee, Lauren McKee, Shylene McKee, Scott (Christine) Fox, Skylar Fox, Mackenzie Shaffer and Kaitlin Shaffer; four great grandchildren, Daphne, Lyndsay, Adalena, Raven and two on the way, Dempsey and Remington; two brothers, John Buffington of Mahaffey and Jack Buffington of Big Run; one sister, Mary Lou Hill of Big Run.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband “Pete”; one son, Robert “Bobby” McKee; two brothers, Don Buffington and Robert “Bob” Buffington; three infant siblings, Margaret, Paul Leroy and Patty Ann Buffington.
Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m.on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at the First Christian Church in Big Run.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. at the church, officiated by Pastor James Walk.
Interment will be at McClure Cemetery, Big Run.
Memorial donations may be made in Jeannie’s memory to the First Christian Church.
