Nellie L Weiss, 101, of Punxsutawney, PA, passed away during the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 10, 2026, while a resident at Mulberry Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Nellie was born on November 26, 1924, to the late Arnold and Bertha (George) Fonner in Indiana, PA. She was a 1941 graduate from the Punxsutawney Area High School. She was the last remaining member of her class. Nellie married the love of her life, Harold “Jack” Weiss on June 20, 1942; Jack preceded her in passing. Nellie worked various jobs as a grocery clerk where she loved to talk to everyone. Nellie was a member of the Punxsutawney Presbyterian Church. Nellie loved people and volunteering. Above all else, she loved her family. Nellie is survived by two children: Sara Weiss and Peggy (Daniel) Engle; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Nellie is preceded in passing by two sons: Arnold Lee Weiss and Harold James Weiss; and four siblings: Caroline Lukehart, Marion Welch, Laura Jean Jarbeck, and Arnold Eddie Fonner. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, March 15, 2026, from 12pm to 2pm at the Fait – d’Argy Funeral Home, 117 N. Jefferson Street, Punxsutawney, PA 15767. A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation beginning at 2pm and officiated by Pastor Jimmy Swogger.
