Nancy Louise Copenhaver
1938-2026

Nancy Louise Copenhaver, 87, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born at home in Mayport on December 23, 1938, a daughter of the late Earl Blair Yeaney and Dorothy Josephine (Brosius) Yeaney.

Nancy was a 1957 graduate of Brookville High School. Following graduation, she married Kenneth Fred Copenhaver on July 10, 1957. They enjoyed fifty-eight years of marriage together and made fond memories from family gatherings, extensive travel, and square dancing. Ken preceded her in death on February 6, 2015.

Nancy and Ken were the proud owners of the Country Villa Motel and Restaurant from 1977-1991, prior to retirement.

She was a member of the Stanton Community Church.

Nancy was the heart of her family, and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who found her greatest joy in bringing everyone together around the dinner table. She always made room for anyone who was able to join in the food, laughter, stories, and love. Her home reflected her care – immaculate, warm, and inviting in every detail. She cherished time spent with her family and the created memories. She enjoyed and found peace in the delicate art of embroidery, playing cards, and the calming creativity of adult coloring books. She looked forward to breakfast at Grandma’s Kitchen.

She is survived by two daughters, Melanie (late Robert “Rob”) Anderson of Ulysses and Monica (Robert “Grover”) Haag of Punxsutawney. Five grandchildren, Robert (Carrie) Haag of Pittsburgh, Robert (Heather) Anderson, III of Orrville, Ohio, Michael Anderson of New Paris, Kristen (Jonathan) DiSalvo of Canonsburg, and Brian Haag of Punxsutawney; six great grandchildren, Matthew, Rachel, Deven, Scarlet, Sophia, and Michael; two sisters, Dolores Grace (Thom) Freese of Pittsburgh and Diana Gail (Ed) Hoffman of Summerville; sister in-law, Bonnie Yeaney of Summerville; and brother-in-law, Merle Beeman of Punxsutawney.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by one son, Michael Kevin Copenhaver; son-in-law, Rev. Robert Edward Anderson, Jr.; granddaughter, Ashlee Renee Haag; one brother, Earl Bradley Yeaney, and one sister, Joanne Marie Beeman.

Arrangements are private and entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

Interment will take place at Cliff Cemetery.
