1939-2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Nancy L. Galentine. Nancy departed this world peacefully on June 21, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the love of her devoted family. She was 87 years old.
Born on May 2, 1939, in the town of Troutville, PA, Nancy was the daughter of the late Dennis and Ruby (Weber) Knarr.
Nancy was married to Kenneth V. Galentine on August 20, 1955. Nancy often fondly recalled the moment she first laid eyes on Kenneth, knowing instantly he was the man with whom she would build a life. Their union was blessed with four children: Debra Swauger, Sheri (Edward) Burtop, Tammy (Douglas) Kepler and Kenneth E. Galentine, who passed at his birth. Though they faced the heartache of losing a son, their family remained strong and close-knit.
After raising her children, Nancy worked as a cafeteria cashier at Luthersburg Elementary School for 16 years. Known for her diligent nature, she took pride in completing her daily accounts without the aid of a calculator.
Nancy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her family fondly recalls the delicious holiday meals she prepared, insisting on making the entire meal herself, a testament to her love and dedication. Her home was her sanctuary and she maintained it and her lawn with meticulous care—right down to plucking each dandelion by hand. Nancy was a long-time member of the Brady Township Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a fervent Penn State Football fan, never missing a game on television.
Nancy's legacy is one of love, resilience, and an unwavering belief in family. She imparted her values and talents to those she loved: from her culinary skills and her love of country music, to her fastidious and orderly nature. She often expressed that her greatest wish for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was for them to lead happy lives.
Nancy is survived by her beloved husband Kenneth, her daughters Debra, Sheri, and Tammy, her grandchildren Amy Swauger, April (Trever) Fleck, Kenneth (Rebecca) Burtop, and Zachary (Cassandra) Burtop, and her precious great-grandchildren Charsi Fleck, Brayden and Malachi Burtop and Evelynn Burtop. She is also survived by her siblings Robert (Lee) Knarr, Denny (Diane) Knarr, and Sally Knarr. She was predeceased by her parents, son Kenneth E. Galentine, son-in-law David Swauger, granddaughter-in-law Emilee Burtop, sister Linda Haag, and brother Bernard Knarr.
In honor of Nancy's generous spirit, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, an organization close to her heart. Arrangements are being conducted by Adamson Funeral Chapel and Crematorium. A private funeral ceremony will be held to celebrate Nancy's life and legacy.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful hospice nurses, care aides, and private caregivers who provided exceptional care, compassion, and support to Nancy during her illness. We would also like to thank Dr. James O’Bryon and his staff for their diligence and care in helping Nancy remain at home during her final years. Your kindness will forever be remembered.
Nancy Galentine leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. She touched the lives of all who knew her and will be deeply missed but never forgotten. In our hearts, her spirit will forever shine.
