Michael Joseph Poling
1961-2026

Michael Joseph Poling, of DuBois, passed away at home on Monday, July 13, 2026.

He was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on November 7, 1961, a son of the late John Earl Poling and Joanne Gwendolyn (Ashbaugh) Poling.

Mike was a 1981graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School.

For over twenty years, he dedicated his career to working as a cook at the Holiday Inn in DuBois, where his love of cooking, dependability and hard work earned the respect of coworkers and countless guests.  His work ethic reflected his commitment to excellence and the genuine desire to prepare wonderful meals for others.

More than anything, he cherished spending time with his family, he loved to cook for them and really enjoyed the time they spent together, particularly fishing.  He treasured the peace and happiness that fishing brought him, especially when he could share those moments with the people he loved most.

He is survived by three sons, Michael J. Poling, Jr. or Maryland, Christopher L. Poling of DuBois and Matthew S. Poling of DuBois; one granddaughter, Penelope; one sister, Susan (Rodney) James of DuBois; and one brother, Brian (Bonnie) Poling of Indiana.

Preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John Poling.

Friends will be received from 11-1 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2026, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Robin Smith.

Interment will follow at Roundtop Cemetery, Trade City.
