Melvin Lyle Shindledecker, age 89, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Thursday, May 28, 2026.
Melvin was born on February 22nd, 1937, in Reynoldsville, PA, to the late Harry Shindledecker and Sarah (Smith) Shindledecker.
He graduated from Brockway high school, class of 1955. He later married Delores (Hilliard) Shindledecker on June 14th, 1957. They spent over 50 years together, until her passing in 2008.
Throughout his life, Melvin was an avid hunter, and devout Methodist. Melvin was beloved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his brother; Don Shindledecker, and two sisters, Helen Shindledecker, and Elizabeth "Betty" Dickey.
He is survived by two sisters; Dorthy Brown of Erie, PA, and Alberta Scott of Reynoldsville, PA; two sons; Jeff (Dottie) Shindledecker of Falls Creek, PA, and Larry (Kelly) Shindledecker of DuBois, PA; four grandchildren; Tyler, Jesse, Dustin, and Alexis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
