Mary Lou (Martz) Burkett,Punxsy, PA

Mary Lou (Martz) Burkett, 80, of Punxsutawney, PA, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, while at her home. She was born on September 4, 1942, to the late Clair W. and Clara (Powell) Martz in Ringgold, PA. Mary Lou attended the DuBois Business College. She worked for the Jefferson County Housing Authority for many years, and was very proud of her work. Mary Lou was preceded in passing by her partner, Michael “Mike” Jerome Adams, who was a father figure to her four children. She was a member of the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church in Oliveburg, PA. Mary Lou was a great lady who treated everyone the same. She was a loving mom and grandma and will be missed by anyone who knew her. Mary Lou is survived by three sons: Douglas Kirk (Leslie) Burkett, Jerry Paul Burkett, and Jeffrey Paul (Roxanne) Burkett; son-in-law: John Rodney Lellock. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Mary Lou also helped raise two of her grandchildren, Clara Lou and Zacheriah, as her own. In addition to her parents and Michael, Mary Lou is preceded in passing by daughter: Patricia Delynn Lellock; great-granddaughter: Sadie Mae Lou Allen; sister: Irene Pierce; and brother: Donald Martz. All services will be held privately to the family and have been entrusted to the Fait – d’Argy Funeral Home, 117 N. Jefferson St., Punxsutawney, PA 15767.
