Mary Lee Stiteler, age 91, of DuBois, PA passed peacefully to her heavenly home January 22, 2026 surrounded by her loving family at Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Born October 29, 1934 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Zona (VanNorman) Calhoun.
On January 13, 1954 Mary was married to her husband of 72 years, Dr. James Stiteler until his passing August 17, 2025.
Along with her husband Doc, they owned and operated the Stiteler Veterinarian Clinic for over 50 years. Known for her kindness and compassion, she was beloved by their many clients.
Mary was an active member of Lakeside United Methodist Church. She grew up on the family’s dairy farm in Beechwoods and graduated from the DuBois High School, Class of 1952. Mary was an excellent cook and baker, enjoyed music, loved her garden of summer flowers and backyard bird and animal watching. She was also a Penn State, Steelers, and DuBois Beavers Football fan. Most of all, Mary loved her family, and was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her.
Mary is survived by her children Cheri McCormick and her husband Larry of Charlotte, NC, Cindy Valentine and her husband Kevin of Medina, OH, and Amy LaMorte and her husband Dan Rawlings of DuBois, PA), five grandchildren (Michael Valentine, Cristi Torre, Shaun McCormick, Jake LaMorte, and Katie LaMorte), three great grandchildren (Franco Torre, Giovanni Valentine and Carlo Lee Torre). Mary’s surviving siblings include sisters (Patricia Moore and her husband Ted of Atlanta, GA and Nancy Williams of DuBois, PA), and brother (Dennis Calhoun of Johnstown, PA), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her husband Jim and her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter (Jamie Clasky), and one grandson (Nick Valentine), brother (Charles Calhoun), nephew (Philip Williams), and niece (Dianna Moore).
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 from 5-7 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 10 a.m. from DuBois Lakeside Church with Pastor Peggy Senior officiating.
Burial will take place in Beechwoods Cemetery.
