Marjorie Lavina Ferra
1931-2026

Marjorie Lavina Ferra, 95, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Aspen Rehabilitation and Healthcare.

She was born in Punxsutawney on February 01,1931, a daughter of the late Oscar A. Anderson and Mary Grace (Anthony) Anderson.

On July 9, 1955, she married Eugene Donald Ferra.  They enjoyed fifty-nine years of marriage prior to his death on July 11, 2014.

Marjorie and Gene were the owners of Hill Top Mobile Home Park in Punxsutawney and Main Street Video in DuBois. They enjoyed working with and meeting many people over the years.

Mrs. Ferra had a deep passion for genealogy and her family’s history, as well as the wish for future generations to know their roots.  Marjorie found great joy in bringing loved ones together, she loved organizing family reunions and gatherings.  Traveling was a favorite pastime, she enjoyed showing her children different cultures and local historical landmarks of the area.

Spending time at home on the farm brought her tremendous peace and comfort.  She enjoyed gardening, feeding and watching the birds.

She is survived by six children, Kevin (Denise) Ferra of Punxsutawney, Colin Ferra of Mars, Karen (Michael) Bly of DuBois, Kirwin (Nanette) Ferra of Rochester Mills, Eugene (Linde) Ferra of Las Vegas and Claire Canton of New Castle; twenty-six grandchildren to include Kevin (Tania) Ferra, Kalista Ferra, Leigha Pertz, Eli Ferra, Samantha Bly and Emily (Dallas) Gray; eight great grandchildren to include Benjamin Lucas DaSilva Ferra.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by one son, John Ferra; one sister, Bertha Snyder; and four brothers, Emery Anderson, Herman Anderson, Amos “Bud” Anderson and Wayne Anderson.

Friends will be received from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

Interment will be at Hopewell Cemetery in Frostburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a tree be planted locally in Marjorie's memory.
