Leo M. Demma
1921-2026
Leo M. Demma, Age 105 of DuBois, PA, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA died Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Christ the King Manor.
Born on January 1, 1921 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Mariano and Michela (Longo) Demma.
He attended the Pittsburgh Public School System until the 9th grade. He then left school to help his dad in the family produce business.
He was married to Rose Agnes (Stratalace) Demma. In 1950, they had a son, Michael C Demma, who survives and lives in Florida. Rose preceded him in death On March 16, 2013.
Leo was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps serving as an ammunition specialist. He was in the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge.
When he returned from the service, he worked at Vince’s Meat Market in Brookline. A few years later, Leo purchased the business and changed the name to Demma’s Meat Market. He and Rose owned and operated the store for 40 years until they retired in 1986.
He and Rose moved to DuBois in 2011 to live with his son Michael and his wife Kathy. In 2018 Leo moved to St. Michael Terrace where he lived independently until a month ago when his health forced him to Christ the King Manor.
Leo and Rose were members of the South Hills Country Club and enjoyed golfing, bowling, and social activities together. Leo continued to bowl until he was 97, golf until he was 98, and was driving at 100 years old.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family that included three brothers, Augie, Leo, and Frank Demma, and six sisters, Josephine Gennuso, Anni DeCarolis, Mary Faulisi, Rose Augustenlle, Antanette Bruno, and Jeanie Vito.
There will be no public visitation and services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Burial will take place in Mount Lebanon Cemetery.
