Karen A. (Work) Zeitler, age 70, of Punxsutawney, passed away in her home on Sunday, January 8,2023, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
She was born January 23, 1952, in Punxsutawney, to George and Marie (Buterbaugh) Work of Punxsutawney.
She is survived by her loving husband Ted Zeitler of Punxsutawney.
Karen is survived by her mother Marie (Buterbaugh) Work, sisters Karla (Work) Strawser and husband Chuck and Kristie (Work) Kromer and husband Dave; nieces Kelly (Work) Rowe of Warrington, PA and Alee (Kromer) Smith of Virginia; and nephew Drew Strawser of Punxsutawney.
She is also survived by her children, Heath Zeitler and wife Lisa of Punxsutawney, Brooke Zeitler and husband Adam Holmes of Treasure Lake, DuBois, and Wesley Zeitler of Punxsutawney.
Surviving grandchildren include Garrett Zeitler, Jaelin Decker, Ian Decker, Logan Zeitler and Kamryn Zeitler.
Karen was preceded in death by her father George Work, grandmothers Mildred (Wolfgang) Buterbaugh and Edna Ellenberger Martin Work, and grandfathers Lamont Buterbaugh and John Charles Work.
She graduated from Punxsutawney Area High School with the class of 1969 and also attended Clarion University for Music and IUP for Accounting.
Karen retired from Femco Machine after 37 years of dedicated employment.
She loved reading, listening to music, playing board games and watching the Steelers, Penguins, Pirates and Penn State football.
Her calm and loving demeanor will be remembered by all that knew and loved her. She will be cherished in our hearts forever. Her final thoughts were “LOVE”.

At Karen’s request there will be no public visitation. A private service will be held at the Zion Cemetery, Porter Road, Punxsutawney, PA.
