John Timothy Young
1950-2026
John Timothy Young, age 75 of Brockway, PA rose to his eternal life on January 28, 2026 at his home.
He was born in DuBois, PA on September 15, 1950 to the late Robert J. and Josephine (Stale) Young.
He was a 1970 graduate of the DuBois Area High School.
John was a four-year veteran of the United States Navy working as a radioman on the USS Guam out of Norfolk, VA.
John made his home on his beloved Brockway farm with the love of his life and companion of 25 years, Mary Akers.
He was a Union Bricklayer for Local 9 PA traveling in the fire brick trade for glass companies all over the United States. John was an expert in his trade and continued his trade working many years encasing his home in field stone from his home fields. John had previously worked with his Uncle Shiner Young as a masonry contractor. He was an avid fly fisherman and hunter although he turned to liking watching the animals on his farm better than hunting them.
John is survived by his step-son (Richard Starr of Brockway, PA), one sister (Linda McCarty and her husband Robert), a sister-in-law (Molly McCabe), his nieces and nephews; James (Alicia), Andrew John, Rod (Angela) Zullo, Melissa (James) Newell, Robert James Young, III (Meg), and Kathy Plevier (Nick).
John was a kind, wonderful man who will be missed by many, even his best buddy, their cat Thomas.
He was preceded in death by one brother Robert James Young, Jr.
There will be no public visitation and a service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be In St. Joseph Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
