John “Jack” BaileySykesville, PA

John “Jack” Bailey, 94, Sykesville, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at Penn Highlands in DuBois. He was born November 13, 1928, in Curwensville, PA. The son of the late James & Amanda (Schindley) Bailey. He married Jean Marie (Showers), she preceded him in death in 1955. He then married Catherine “Kay” (London) in 1959, she preceded him in death in 2016.

He was a graduate of Sykesville High School in 1946. He had previously worked as a lineman for Penelec and was part owner of The Bailey’s Cycle shop with his wife Kay in Sykesville. John had always enjoyed his motorcycles.

John is survived by a daughter Linda (Ron) Mowrey of Sykesville, a son John (Sheri) Bailey of Virginia, a brother Bruce Bailey of North Carolina, two sisters Rita Kellar of Florida and Nell Saunders of Sykesville, four grandchildren, Brian (Missy) Mowrey, Scott (Nancy) Mowrey, Missi Hess and Samantha (Charles) Smith, seven great-grandchildren, Hannah, Adam, Jake & Jenna Mowrey, Roni and Denton Hess and Krisztofer Smith.

In addition to his parents and 1st and 2nd wives, he was also preceded in death by a brother Blake Bailey and a sister Joyce Dreibelbis.

At John’s request, there will be no viewing or services. Burial took place in Sykesville Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Leo Nedza Funeral Home of Sykesville. Online condolences can be made at www.nedzafamilyfuneralhomes.com
