John Elroy Frampton, 92, of Reynoldsville, passed away peacefully at home on a beautiful Sunday morning, July 19, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Indiana, Pennsylvania on January 31, 1934, a son of the late Arthur Verland Frampton and Violet Elizabeth Styers.
Mr. Frampton was a proud United States Army Veteran. Following his discharge from the Army, he married the love of his life, Laudrea Catherine Brewer on July 29, 1960.
John was a founding member of the Jefferson County Veteran’s Honor Guard. Until recently, with his wife by his side, he faithfully participated in military honors to pay tribute to countless veterans of Jefferson County with unwavering respect and dignity, ensuring their sacrifices were remembered with the honor they deserved. Mr. Frampton marched in parades in the sweltering heat, stood at attention through the bitter cold and pouring rain to honor the United States military and a fallen comrade. His patriotism and dedication to others was selfless and deeply sincere.
Mr. Frampton was employed as a diesel mechanic by Dixie Ohio Express in Akron, Ohio, and Preston Trucking in Dubois, retiring in 1999.
John and Laudrea enjoyed nearly sixty-six years of marriage. Through life’s joys and challenges, they remained steadfast, created a home filled with love, raised a beautiful family and maintained a farm together. John was an incredibly hard worker that loved to mow the fields, plant corn and watch the seasons come and go. He was never one to sit still, he was always taking care of anything that needed to be done at the farm. John led by example, he was dedicated, stern about his expectations and determined to instill the best values in his children and grandchildren.
He was a member of the Reynoldsville First Methodist Church.
Also, a member of the American Legion, Punxsutawney Sportsman’s Club and the Jefferson County Farm Bureau.
When he was not working, he enjoyed hunting and being with his family.
In addition to Laudrea, he is survived by five children, Deborah (Dave) Blair of Reynoldsville, Jackie L. (Tim) Walls of Reynoldsville, Joan E. (Lee) Krull of Clarion, John A. (Tara Tyger) Frampton of DuBois and Janina A. Fuller of Reynoldsville; seven grandchildren, Lakyn (Ryan) Lutton, Haley (Dave) Steinberg, Lauren Charles, Alexis (Luke) Grysiak, Charles Fuller, Jr., Catherine Fuller, and Emma Buchler; four great grandchildren, Ava, Julia, Sylvia and Lilah.
Preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Sandy Rae Frampton; one brother, Marion Lee “Ted” Frampton and one sister, Mary Ann Manners.
In accordance with his wishes there will be no visitation. Arrangements under the direction of Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Reynoldsville First Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Becky Edwards.
Military honors will be accorded by the Jefferson County Veterans Honor Guard.
