Jean Elizabeth Venture, 86, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
She was born in Sykesville on December 06, 1937, a daughter of the late John Venture and Agnes (Choffin) Venture.
Ms. Venture was Protestant by faith.
Jean was a 1955 graduate of Sykesville-Henderson High School. After graduation, she worked as a secretary for Sykesville-Henderson High School prior to her moving to Washington, D.C. to work for the federal government.
Jean returned from Washington, D.C. in 1971 and attended Clarion University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. She then worked as a substitute teacher in the local school district.
Jean decided to return to Washington, D.C. and worked for various branches of the United States Government prior to her retirement in 1994.
Jean liked to go shopping, she enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was a very private person and thoroughly enjoyed her own company.
Surviving relatives include one brother, James (Betty) Venture of Reynoldsville; two sisters, Joan (Thomas) Vizza of Reynoldsville and Judy Mulhollan of DuBois, several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents.
In accordance with her wishes there will be no visitation. Arrangements entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
Her ashes will be interred at Sykesville Cemetery.
