Janet Louise "Jan"(Lallo) Mehall, age 89 of DuBois, PA, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital.
Janet was born June 30, 1937 in Brockway, PA, to John Alfredo "Johnny" Lallo and Genoveffa Filomena "Jenny" (Parziale) Lallo. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Francis J. "Frank" Mehall (2010), and one son, Francis J. Mehall, Jr. (1982).
Janet was the beloved mother of John Mark, Nell Marie (Bruce) Centra, Marian Rose (Carl) Popelka, Jane Elizabeth (Ross) Adair, and cherished Nana to Rachel Alexandra (Nick), Luke Robert (Isabella), John Francis "Jack" (Olivia), Christian James, Katherine Louise, and of course, Teddy, the endearing and beloved family Yorkie.
Janet loved to share memories and reminisce about her beloved hometown of Brockway, PA, and her storied childhood and upbringing, having been surrounded by a very loving and caring family and extended family, as well as many lifelong friends.
She graduated from Brockway High School in 1955 and had worked as a secretary at Brockway Glass. She then married the love of her life, Francis J. "Frank" Mehall, in June of 1960. Together they raised a family and remained strong in their faith in God, ever mindful of being present to the possibility that God was at work in their lives even when understanding seemed difficult. She learned the importance of gathering the family around the table and always welcomed anyone to come in and sit down for a visit and have something to eat, or to share in whatever she had cooked or baked. She counted her faith, family and friends as blessings from God and often expressed her love and support of people through correspondence and notes or cards. She very much loved to write and to let others know that they were important to her and that they mattered. She was warm, caring, generous, kind and had a tremendous capacity to love and to care deeply. Her love of reflection and spending time in prayer was a priority and a visible sign of her reverence for God.
Janet also had a love of music and was an accomplished pianist and organist and she also played the clavinova. She shared that talent with others and served for many years as organist at St. Catherine of Sienna Roman Catholic Church, DuBois, where she had been a member of the parish music ministry for many years. She also enjoyed being a part of liturgical planning, as well as other parish activities and lay ministry. Her faith traditions were very important to her and she believed strongly in the significance of discernment and living the joy of the gospels. Her generosity extended to many charitable organizations and ministries, and she shared that legacy of giving with her late husband. Their love for each other was the gift of their life together, and although she is gone from this earth, we fully trust that she is joyful and rejoicing with her loved ones and her Lord and Savior.
