James “Jim” B. Shaffer, 89, of Reynoldsville, PA, passed away on February 20, 2026, at Penn Highlands DuBois.
Born July 26, 1936, in Greensburg, PA, he was the son of James A. and Margaret (Pry) Shaffer, both of whom preceded him in death.
Jim served in the United States Air Force. He graduated from Penn State in 1963 and was employed by Rockwell International until his retirement in 1996.
On July 3, 1965, in Boswell, PA, he married Darla Borelle. They shared 60 years of marriage. Darla survives him.
He was a member of the Reynoldsville Elks, Eagles, and the Sportsmen’s Club. He attended St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church. He coached Little League in Reynoldsville for 25 years. Jim was a simple man. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, feeding birds, woodworking—especially making birdhouses for his family—and spending time at the beach in Ocean City.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Brenda (John) Gorham, Karen (Tim Doan) Shaffer, and Steven Shaffer; and nine grandchildren: Asia, Rayna, Jake, Lexi, Alec, Arianna, Austin, Ayden, and Andrew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter, Samantha; and his sister, Rosemary Stuart.
Family and friends will be received at the Snyder d’Argy Funeral Home, 206 E. Main Street, Reynoldsville, PA 15851, on Tuesday, February 24, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held immediately following the viewing, beginning at 1:00 p.m. and with Father John Malthaner officiating. Military honors will be rendered by the DuBois Area Honor Guard. Interment will follow at Lakelawn Memorial Park, Winslow Twp., Jefferson Co, PA.
