Eugene C. Cyphert, Sr., 71, Sykesville passed away Monday, February 9, 2026 due to the injuries sustained in an early morning structure fire at his residence in Sykesville. He was born September 13, 1954 in DuBois. A son of the late Paul Eugene & Leola (Lott) Cyphert. He married Bertha Mae (Leonard) on March 30, 1974. She preceded him in death in 2012.
Eugene leaves behind a daughter Paula (James Landis) Cyphert, Reynoldsville, William “Billy” (Betty Jo) Cyphert, DuBois, two sisters Audrey (William) Dunlap, Luthersburg and Sherryl Dunlap, Sykesville, two brothers Perry (Kathy Hartzfeld) Cyphert, Sykesville and James Cyphert, Harrisburg, eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He graduated from Jeff Tech in Reynoldsville. He had worked at RESCAR Inc. in DuBois. He was a member of the Big O, Sandy Club, IP&S, Sykesville Eagles and Legion as well as a life member of the Sykesville Scrub Masters Club.
Eugene lived all his life in Sykesville.
In addition to his parents and wife, Eugene was also preceded in death by a son Eugene, jr.
Friends will be received on Friday, February 13, 2026 from 2pm until 5pm at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home in Sykesville. Services will follow on Friday at 5pm at the funeral home with Pastor Ann Dixon officiating. Burial will take place in Lakelawn Memorial Cemetery in Reynoldsville.
