Edgar W. “Ed” Reed, Jr., age 81 of Troutville, PA died Thursday, November 20, 2025 at UPMC Hamot, in Erie, PA.
Born on December 8, 1943 in Unity, PA, he was the son of the late Edgar W. and S. Maxine (Ecklund) Reed, Sr.
Ed was a graduate of Clearfield Area High School and Penn State University.
He married Charlene (Shaffer) Reed, his wife of 58 years, on August 12, 1967. She survives.
Ed was a veteran of the United States Navy having served two tours during the Vietnam War.
He was self-employed as an over the road trucker for over 40 years.
He attended the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church.
Ed loved to play golf and enjoyed hunting. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association, and the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 720.
Along with his wife, Ed is survived by two sons (William L. Reed and his wife Jennifer of Frederick, MD, and Barry L. Reed and his wife Lori of Woodbridge, VA), three grandchildren (Emily, Dane and Maisy Reed), four siblings (James Reed and his wife Glenda, David Reed and his wife Sally, Dawn Sankey and her husband Frank, and Dennis Reed), and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother (Gary Reed).
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025 from 2 - 4 and 6 – 8 pm at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at 11 am from the funeral home with Pastor Jacob Penvose officiating.
Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard from the funeral home.
Burial will take place in Troutville Trinity United Church of Christ Cemetery.
