1928-2026
E. Lois Garthwaite, 97, formally of DuBois, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at U.P.M.C. Jamison, New Castle, PA.
Born on March 11, 1928 in DuBois, she was the daughter of the late Hiram and Dora (Shoemaker) Bundy.
On July 17, 1955, Lois married Clayton E. Garthwaite Sr. in DuBois. He preceded her in passing on August 6, 2001.
Lois was a graduate of Sandy High School, a member of Treasure Lake Church where she loved going to church and Bible Study. She enjoyed listening to music, doing crafts, crossword puzzles and fill-in puzzles, and spending time with her wonderful family.
She is survived by her loving family, children; Clayton “Woody” (Annette) Garthwaite of Elizabeth City, N.C., Gregory (Gail) Garthwaite of Wheatlon, PA., Joy (Frank)Barrett of DuBois, Michele (Terry) Thompson Jr. of DuBois, Hiram “Bundy” (Angie) Garthwaite of Hermitage, PA. grandchildren; Clayton Garthwaite III, Winston Garthwaite, Drew Runyon, Hope Cummings, Faith Barrett, Nik and Kody Barrett, Angela Fangster, Travis Moorhead, Giorgi Thompson, Breanna and Lauran Garthwait and twenty-six great-grandchildren. Siblings; Emil (LaRue) Bundy, Hiram (Terri) Bundy Jr., Elda (Ivor) Jones and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lois was preceded in passing by her; parents, husband, siblings; Kenneth Bundy, Jean Christian, Lyle Bundy, Dora Dodd, Donna Hallstrom, Carolyn Lauer and Cleo Saldutta.
Friends and family will be received at the Adamson Funeral Chapel & Crematorium on Sunday, February 15, 2026 from 2 PM to 5 PM. On Monday, February 16, 2026, at the Treasure Lake Church from 10 AM until time of service at 11 AM with Pastor Dave Ginn officiating.
Interment will take place in Morningside Cemetery.
