Dorothy Hoskavich Scull
1931-2026
Dorothy Hoskavich Scull, age 95 of DuBois, PA died unexpectedly, Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at her home.
Born on February 16, 1931 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Julia (Leshaga) Hoskavich.
On December 29, 1951 she married Ronald L. Scull. He preceded her in death on December 2, 2018.
Dorothy was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, and was a past volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She was a Charter Member of the Friendship Hose Company #2 Ladies Auxiliary. Dorothy enjoyed going to Silver Sneakers at the DuBois YMCA, working on her diamond art, and playing bingo with her St. Michael Terrace friends.
Dorothy loved and accepted everyone that she ever met, regardless of any shortcomings. Her love and compassion for people, for family, and for life itself helped to shape us into who we are today.
Dorothy is survived by three daughters (Bridget Rubritz & her husband Tom of DuBois, PA; Diana Pifer of Pittsburgh, PA; and Patricia Bernardo & her husband Rick of DuBois, PA), six grandchildren (Brooke Tarcson & her husband John; Tommy Rubritz & his wife Julie; Andy Pifer; Nate Bernardo & his wife Lindsey; Larissa Ward and her husband Jesse; and Kaylee Klender and her husband Mitchell), and ten great grandchildren (Isabel, Emma, Juli, & Lily Tarcson; Adam & Charlotte Rubritz; and Bentley & Lincoln Bernardo; Nolan Ward, and Camila Klender), and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son-in-law Glenn Pifer, five brothers; John, Michael, Steven, Joseph and Harry Hoskavich, and five sisters; Mary Larson, Anne Topeck, Helen Suplizio, Anastasia Murone and Martha Esposito.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 from 3 – 7 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at 10 AM from Holy Spirit Parish at St. Catherine of Siena with Msgr. Richard Siefer and Fr. John Malthaner as con-celebrants.
Burial will be in St. Catherine Cemetery.
