1940-2026
Doris June Ansinger, 85,of Punxsutawney, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Penn Highlands DuBois.
She was born in Punxsutawney on June 07, 1940, a daughter of the late John W. Lantz and Ruth Rosalee (
Kerr) Lantz.
Doris previously worked at AM/PM Personal Care home where she filled various roles from caregiving to preparing meals for the residents.
For over thirty years she shared a beautiful companionship with Michael Joseph Dubensky. He preceded her in death on May 2, 2014.
She was a true family woman, whose greatest joy came from being surrounded by those she loved the most. Her days were often spent watching her grandchildren, not just as a caregiver, but as a steady, loving presence in their everyday lives. To her family, she wasn’t just a grandmother-she was the heart of the home, and her love will live on in every life she touched.
In her free time, Doris loved her tending to her flower gardens. She carefully tucked garden gnomes among the flowers, adding a touch of charm to her outdoor sanctuary. She also had a fondness for collecting owls. She is fondly remembered for always having a Boston Terrier dog by her side for many years as well.
She is survived by two children, Connie Ansinger of Punxsutawney, and Thomas (Elaine) Ansinger of Saucier, Mississippi; her life long partner’s son also, Joseph Dubensky; nine grandchildren whom she dearly loved, Michael (Nichole) Ansinger of Rochester Mills, Adayna (Benjamin) Sharp of Reynoldsville, Kira (Justin) Elbel of Punxsutawney, Bretton (Stephanie) Ansinger of Anita, Jason Ansinger of Brookville, Richard J. Ansinger III of Reynoldsville, Kay-Lyn (Alexandria) Loveall of Nutley, New Jersey, Drew (Ashley) Borden of Biloxi, Mississippi and Natasha (Patrick) Wagner of Shippenville; twenty-six great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Susan Fleming of Punxsutawney, and Joyce (Todd) Anderson of Reynoldsville; one brother, John “Bud” (Marliyn) Lantz of Florida; sister in-law, Annette Cochran of Oliveburg.
Preceded in death by her parents, one son, Richard J. Ansinger II; three brothers, infant James Cochran, Ronald Cochran and Edward Lantz; one sister, Ruth Rhoades.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until noon on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
