Doreen "Dee" Slawson
Doreen was born in Punxsutawney, PA on October 19, 1936, daughter of Mario and Mary (DeBerti) Tollini of Rossiter, PA.
She married Donald G "Dooley" on September 17, 1960. He preceded her in death in 2010.
She was survived by her children Dennis and Donald "Red" (Margaret) Slawson and her grandchildren Christopher, Andrew, Megan Slawson and Kathryn Friesen (Logan) who were her pride and joy.
She is survived by her sister Eleanore Capozzoli of Punxsutawney, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Donald Tollini.
Dee was an avid reader and was a member of the Sykesville Library Board.
She was a member of Assumption Blessed Virgin Mary Church of Sykesville, PA. She was also an Eucharistic Minister and Outreach Minister for many years. She was a long-time member of Catholic Daughters of America.
She graduated from Rossiter High School and then went on to graduate from the DuBois Business College. She worked at Penn Traffic and then was secretary to Attorney Mark Katzen. She retired from Northwest Bank in Sykesville and later retired again from Walmart in DuBois.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2025 from 2pm until 4pm at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home in Sykesville. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, December 29 at 10:00am at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church with Father John Malthaner as celebrant. Burial will follow in the ABVM Church Cemetery beside her husband.
