1956-2026
Charles “Chuck” E. Case III of Falls Creek, Pennsylvania, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 17th, 2026 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania after a courageous battle to overcome complicated heart issues, passing away peacefully surrounded by his wife and children.
Born in DuBois, Pennsylvania on June 15th, 1956, he was the son of the late Charles “Bud” E. Case Jr. and Twila L. (Sholes) Case. He was also preceded in death by sisters Mary C. Case, of Brandon, FL, and Martha “Marty” A. (Case) Schropp, of DuBois, PA, as well as his dog Fudge Case.
Chuck is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 33 years, Betsy J. (Geffert) Case and his four children who he loved more than life itself: Traci R. Case and her husband Alex J. Vouri of Longmont, CO, Nicole S. Case and her partner E. Michael Barnett of Falls Creek, PA, Charles “Casey” E. Case IV and his wife Nicole Rita Case of Apex, NC, and JoAnne T. Case and her partner Kyla R. Alker of Falls Creek, PA. He is also survived by his beloved dogs, Perley and Ruby Case. Additionally, he is survived by his brother Randy Case of MI, Kathy Hinderlighter of WV, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members who he loved dearly.
He was a 1974 graduate of DuBois Area High School. He touched the lives of many people in his more than 50 years of employment at both Shop ‘n Save of DuBois and Lowe’s Home Improvement of DuBois. For the last few years of his life, Chuck passionately served the community he had called home for decades as Borough Manager of Falls Creek. He had served on the Falls Creek Borough Council, the DuBois Central Catholic Board of Directors, the Jefferson County Boroughs Association, and the Jefferson County Planning Commission.
Chuck enjoyed, above all else, spending quality time with his wife and children, who he was immensely proud of and loved so openly and dearly. He enjoyed tending to his large garden every summer, hiking trails, vacationing with loved ones, reading, and cheering on his beloved Pittsburgh sports teams and Penn State Nittany Lions.
He had the most infectious laugh and sense of humor, which he brought everywhere and weaved into his unwavering love for those who were dear to him. He held a positive outlook on every situation in life that was unshakable and brought so much joy to everyone who was fortunate enough to cross paths with him. He was the most selfless, affectionate, and devoted father and husband, which were his greatest joys in life. He will be dearly, dearly missed by everyone that knew him.
A public visitation will be held at Leo Nedza Funeral Home in DuBois, PA on Sunday, February 22nd, 2026, from 11a-2p and 4p-7p and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 23rd, 2026 at St. Bernard’s Church in Falls Creek at 10a with Msgr. Charles Kaza as celebrant, with a private burial taking place at Morningside Cemetery. Chuck wished to be remembered in the same way he lived his life, with fun, positivity, and laughter, so the family asks that you wear funny, positive, or Pittsburgh sports team attire to the visitation and funeral.
Memorial donations may be made to the Gateway Humane Society in Falls Creek or the Falls Creek Parks and Recreation Board. Online condolences can be made at www.nedzafamilyfuneralhomes.com .
