1936-2024
Bertha “Maxine” McGee, 88, of Punxsutawney, died Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Mulberry Healthcare in Punxsutawney, PA.
She was born April 10, 1936, in DuBois, a daughter of the late Rebecca (Hartman) and Glenn McMillen.
On May 28, 1955, she married John C. McGee, who preceded her in death on January 8, 2019.
Maxine enjoyed volunteering at the Punxsutawney Hospital and loved spending time with her family immensely.
Maxine is survived by four children, Jonna Irvin and husband Mac of Big Run, John “Bud” McGee of Harrisburg, Holly Astorino and husband John of Punxsutawney, and Mary Ann Gordon, also of Harrisburg; seven grandchildren, Brooke Dawson and Kevan, Macky Irvin and wife Kathrin, Jenna Davis and husband Kevin, Josh Temchulla, Nicholas Gordon, Olivia Gordan, and Kaianna McGee; ten great-grandchildren, Alexander, Taylor, Quinn and Lana Dawson, Finnley and Zoe Irvin, Landan and Paxton Temchulla, and Raea and Reese Davis; a sister Jan Harrold and husband Doug; a sister-in-law Peggy McMillen; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter Maria Temchulla and a brother Glenn G. McMillen.
Services are private and under direction of the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.
Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery in Cloe.
