Barbara “Barb” Jane (Harriger) Matusky
1948-2023

Barbara “Barb” Jane (Harriger) Matusky, 74, of Reynoldsville, PA, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2023, while at her home, with her loving family by her side. Barb was born on December 22, 1948, to Donald Eugene and Portia Yvonne (Clinger) Harriger in DuBois, PA. She graduated from the DuBois Area High School with the Class of 1966, which was the first graduating class of the Reynoldsville – Sykesville and DuBois Area merger. Barb married the love of her life, John “Jack” Richard Matusky, on June 21, 1969, in Sykesville, PA. Barb worked as a receptionist at Rockwell for five years. She then focused her time as a stay-at-home mom, caring for her three daughters. Barb and Jack also opened their home and hearts to Sam and Justin when they were six years old. They loved and raised them as their own. In later years, she worked as a teacher’s aide in special education for the DuBois Area School District. Barb was a member of the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Reynoldsville. She was also an avid and active member of the Reynoldsville Pool Association for over 25 years. Barb was the lead organizer and driving force behind the successful Walmart Truckload Sale. She worked on that fundraiser for months and was very proud of how much she was able to raise for the pool renovations. Barb loved Reynoldsville, she believed that the sun rose and set there. Barb enjoyed auctions, yard sales, Goodwill, and collecting antiques. Barb loved all animals ranging anywhere from chickens and bunnies to as big as horses. She had a very special love for the Ocean, especially the Outer Banks. She also loved Treasure Lake, Deep Creek, and the Clarion River, but it did not matter where she was, as long as it had sand, water, and her family there with her. Barb was known as the family organizer. She organized all family events which included, but are not limited to, vacations, holidays, and birthday parties, always preparing too much food. Barb loved her family more than anything else, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Barb is survived by her mother: Portia Harriger; two daughters: Amy Matusky and Jill (Alan) Moore; two sons: Sam and Justin; and sister: Denise (Rick) McGarvey. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Jaxson Matusky, Alex Moore, Andrew Moore, Alyssa Moore, Dru Javens, Cole Javens, Blake Javens and their father: Todd Javens. Barb is preceded in passing by her father: Donald Harriger; and daughter: Beth Matusky Javens. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, from 4pm to 8pm at the Snyder – d’Argy Funeral Home, 206 E. Main St., Reynoldsville, PA 15851. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 607 E.
